Isabelita at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion: A Portrait of Strength and Presence

Hold onto your hats because I've got a story about a little piece of magic that found its way to the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, an exhibition organized by the Vincent Price Art Museum, curated by Gloria Ortega.

It was an absolute whirlwind of emotions as I watched my art piece, Isabelita, a portrait of a fierce Latina woman, take center stage amidst the glitz and glamour of such a beautiful room. It is a testament to Alma's vision.

I knew this painting was unique from the moment I looked at her (I had not seen her for some twenty years). With every brushstroke, I poured my heart and soul into capturing her essence—the strength in her gaze, the passion in her stance, the stories whispered in the lines of her face.

And boy, did she make an entrance! Decked out in vibrant red, black, and white hues, she commanded the room like a true queen.  It was as if she stepped right out of the canvas and into our world, daring us to take a closer look and uncover the layers of her story.

As the night unfolded, I was swept up in a whirlwind of emotions—pride, awe, gratitude, you name it! Seeing my piece hanging there, surrounded by such incredible talent, was a pinch-me moment I'll never forget. It validated the idea that dreams do come true and that sometimes the most outstanding masterpieces come straight from the heart.

Art has a funny way of bringing us together, reminding us that we're all human beings on this wild and wonderful journey called life.

So here's to my Latina muse at the show at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion!
