Collection: Textile Collage Mixed Media Fiber Art

The Blue Gates explores how memory and transformation shape our experience, and how art can subtly change the way we see the world around us. Back in 2005, Christo’s The Gates transformed Central Park into a river of color during the bleak New York winter—a brief but powerful event that made something ordinary feel almost sacred. Now, twenty years later, this collection doesn’t try to recreate that spectacle, but instead, seeks to capture the lingering feelings it left behind. Using layers of gelli-printed tissue, hand-collaged blue fields, and quilted fabrics, each piece comes together like pieces of memory—delicate, imperfect, and deeply personal. The blue in these works can be sky or water, distance or depth, all at once, holding onto the sense of nature both disrupted and renewed. Rather than depicting The Gates themselves, these pieces quietly reflect the way that moment made the world pause and feel transformed.
